I will Pray for You

I will Pray for You

"Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit’s wishes. Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere."
Ephesians 6:18, LB

What a comfort to know someone is praying for you. I have often felt very uplifted and have said to myself, “Someone must be praying for me just now”. There is power and blessing that goes out to someone who is genuinely being prayed for.

Jesus told St. Peter that Satan had desired to sift him like wheat, but that he had prayed for him, that his faith wouldn’t fail (Luke 22:31). And Jesus is our High Priest who ‘ever lives to make intercession for us’. How wonderful, that our Saviour is praying for us (Hebrews 7:25). Jesus also prayed for us in John’s Gospel. ‘I am not praying for these alone but also for the future believers who will come to me because of the testimony of these. My prayer for all of them is that they will be of one heart and mind, just as you and I are’.(John 17.20-21).

Sometimes through the day or night, I might find someone on my mind. This may be the Holy Spirit prompting me to pray specifically, for them at that time. I believe God is ready to receive these prayers and pour His blessings out. Perhaps we may be unaware of the power and strength of prayer and the warfare that goes on in the heavenlies, and the commands that God gives His angels to minister to His saints, but all we have to do is to be obedient when the Holy Spirit nudges us into action, that His will may be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

‘Then another angel having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand’ (Revelation 8:3).

Prayer: Lord, We thank You for praying for us. Teach us how to really pray and may our praise to You be as incense. May we be obedient to Your voice and faithful in praying for each other, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
